x960BT – more than what it seems
The x960BT’s most exciting new feature is easy Internet Access. By connecting a bluetooth capable mobile phone to the navigation device, it is now possible to reach the internet with the DUN (Dial Up Network) function. The device comes complete with the Windows CE version of Internet Explorer to freely browse the net. What’s more, you can now make use of the Internet function of navigation softwares like Sygic Drive, traffic and weather information.
Another great new feature of the device is the ability to download contacts from mobile phone onto the navigation device, if phone is up to the task. So when receiving a call the caller can be identified at a glance and similarly, when initiating a call, it’s easy to select a contact name. This feature makes using the Bluetooth connection a lot more convenient.
It’s the wireless way of connecting to our mobile phone. This way we can use the phone’s speaker as a loudspeaker. Besides, with the DUN function the device is capable of reaching the internet in no time.
You can further increase the volume of the navigation, movies or music through a given radio frequency. Just tune the car audio to the right frequency to enjoy the sound of your favourite music, video clip or even the narration of the navigation software through the car’s speakers.
The device comes complete with a high resolution (800x480) display providing a bigger, more detailed and informative map area. The display’s optimal illumination is ensured by the automatic brightness control that adjusts screen brightness to match surrounding light conditions.
Still, the main function of the device is navigation. GPS reception and calculation processes are taken care of by a dual-core 664MHz SirfAtlas V CPU. GPS coordinates are calculated by a custom-developed 250MHz DSP chip. The SirfAtlasV processor is capable of receiving satellite signals through 64 channels. As a result it’s faster and more accurate in locating position.
The device includes a 4GB flash memory that can be extended up to 16GB with a microSD card. Operational memory boasts an impressive 128MB, which is ample even if planning a Trans-European route.
Multimedia and entertainment
The x960BT is in its element in multimedia as well. Besides playing music or videos, you can watch flash video or browse photos and text files. And if that wasn’t enough, a few simple games are also readily available.
